If you have more than one battery for your DJI Phantom 4 drone then the standard battery charger can only connect to one battery. You need to wait for the first battery to charge and then connect the next battery for it to start charging. With the long amount of time it takes to charge a DJI Phantom battery it is easy to not notice when the battery has completed charging and miss the opportunity start charging the next battery.
A battery charging hub can start the charging process of multiple batteries so that when one battery finishes charging the next battery will automatically start charging. This is a review of the Smatree Battery Charging Hub for the DJI Phantom 4.
Price
At the time of writing this review this charging hub costs $33.99 on Amazon. The DJI version of the same type of product currently costs a much higher $108.00: DJI Battery Charging Hub For DJI Phantom 4
Parts
The Smatree Battery Charging Hub comes with the following:
- Battery Charging Hub
- Manual
It is important to note that this charging hub does not come with a power adapter to connect from a power outlet to the charging hub. A standard DJI Phantom 4 power adapter is needed to use the hub.
How To Use
To use the charging hub, connect the standard Phantom 4 battery charger to a power outlet. Then connect the standard battery charger to the Smatree charging hub.
When the charging hub has power then connect the Phantom 4 batteries to the channels of the hub. For connecting the batteries to the hub, you need to align the grooves of the battery with the slot tracks of the charging hub and then press down.
Charging
It is important to note that the batteries do not charge simultaneously.
- The charging hub will begin charging the battery that is closest to being fully charged.
- When that battery is fully charged, the charging hub will then begin charging the next battery that is closest to being fully charged.
- When that battery is fully charged, then the last battery will begin to be charged.
The charging hub is used so that you can start the charging process and walk away instead of the charging one battery at a time and miss the opportunity to start charging the next battery.
Conclusion
For charging multiple DJI Phantom 4 batteries the Smatree Battery Charging Hub is a much cheaper alternative to the DJI Battery Charging Hub For DJI Phantom 4.
Another cheaper alternative is the Hanatora Battery Charging Hub.
